Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

choropleth

A package containing choropleth components for Svelte:

  • ChoroplethSVG
  • ChoroplethDiv

Terminology

Since these components can render different types of areas, here we're using the term "region" to refer to the geographic regions type we'll be representing (e.g. 'country', 'NUTS2', etc).

Props

Here are the props in use by these components (depending on the components some might not be used).

colorDefaultFill

The default fill color for polygons.

Type: string

Default: white

colorSeaFill

The background color.

Default: white

colorStroke

The default stroke color for polygons.

Default: grey

colorStrokeSelected

The stroke color for selected polygons.

topojson

The Topojson object of regions to be represented, with properties having the a field corresponding to the prop key.

Type: object

isInteractive

If true, emits events when interacting with the polygons, the payload being the value of the region key (see events below).

Type: boolean

key (Required)

The key to be used in the features properties field as the region identifier.

For example the properties field might have the shape {iso_a2: String, iso_a3: String}: by passing iso_a3 we choose to identify features by the value in the iso_a3 field of their properties field.

Type: String

Default: undefined

key_alt

You might provide a topojson where not all the features have the provided key. For example if you provide key: 'iso_a2' (ISO Alpha 2 codes), disputed or partially recognised countries might not have that code (e.g. Kosovo). For these cases you can provide a key_alt, equal to name by default.",

Type: String

Default: name

keyToColor

By providing an object mapping region key -> region color, you can control the regions colour.

Notice that the default color for keys not in keyToColor is black.

Type: object

Default: undefined

	foo: 'yellow',
	bar: '#ff0000',
}
