Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@plesiosaurus/ui

A simple & animate-full UI component library built with vanilla-extract.🩵 Perfectly Working with all React-made projects!

❄️🍦It's Fully Vanilla Flavour React component library!!🍦❄️

🦖 Configurations - It's a tiny little step before you go ahead!

  • Simply add "resolvePackageJsonExports": false, in compilerOptions in tsconfig.json property like this:
   "compilerOptions": {
      // ...
      "resolvePackageJsonExports": false,
      // ...
   },

... then you're good to go! You got a fully-typed React UI Component.

🏹Usage

In your app, you're able to use @plesiosaurus/ui Components like so:

import { Button } from '@plesiosaurus/ui'

function App() {
  return (
    <div>
      <Button
        state='secondary'
        animationProps={{
          hover: {
            key: 'bgColorFade',
            option: {
              duration: '0.3s',
              delay: '0s',
              afterColor: 'secondary',
            },
          },
        }}
      >
        Label
      </Button>
    </div>
  )
}

export default App

As it's fully typed, you got a tweet from your IDE if you're missing something necessary.

Don't worry if you're not sure what variants are available.@plesiosaurus/ui Components allow you to know what you can put in there!

Hooray🌟 Now, @plesiosaurus/ui Components are in your hands!

🌈Technical Features

🌳Fully tree shakeable

Only necessary code ends up in the final application. When you import a component, it only includes the necessary JS and CSS styles. It's pretty cool, isn't it?

必要なコードだけが最終的なアプリケーションに含まれます。コンポーネントをインポートすると、必要な JS と CSS スタイルのみが含まれます。

🐣Compiled CSS modules

The components are styled with vanilla-extract. When building the library, these styles will get transformed to normal CSS style sheets. This means that the consuming application will not even be required to support vanilla-extract!

コンポーネントは vanilla-extract を使用してスタイルが付けられています。ライブラリをビルドすると、これらのスタイルは通常の CSS スタイルシートに変換されます。つまり、消費するアプリケーションは vanilla-extract をサポートする必要さえありません!

As a bonus compiling the vanilla-extract avoids a compatibility issue and the package can be consumed in both, environments that support named imports for vanilla-extract, and environments that don't. That means using compiled CSS allows for obtaining the minimal CSS in both environments that support named imports and those that do not!

🦖TypeScript

To include type definitions in our UI library, we successfully developed the library using a statically typed language such as TypeScript. We exported type definition to @plesiosaurus/ui/types/**.d.ts files (files with the .d.ts extension) as part of the build process. This enables users to benefit from features like code completion and type checking when using the UI library.
