Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

About

@ntegral/nestjs-s3 implements a module, S3Module, which when imported into your nestjs project provides an S3 client to any class that injects it. This lets AWS S3 be worked into your dependency injection workflow without having to do any extra work outside of the initial setup.

Installation

npm install --save @ntegral/nestjs-s3 aws-sdk

Getting Started

The simplest way to use @ntegral/nestjs-s3 is to use S3Module.forRoot

import { Module } from '@nestjs-common';
import { S3Module } from '@ntegral/nestjs-s3';

@Module({
  imports: [
    S3Module.forRoot({
      accessKeyId: 'aws_access_key_id',
      secretAccessKey: 'aws_secret_access_key',
      region?: 'aws_region_id',
      sessionToken?: 'aws_session_token', | null,
      apiVersion?: 's3_api_version' //based on s3 api version //
    }),
  ],
})
export class AppModule {}

The async way @ntegral/nestjs-s3 is to use S3Module.forRootAsync

import { Module } from '@nestjs-common';
import { S3Module } from '@ntegral/nestjs-s3';
import { ConfigModule } from '@ntegral/nestjs-config';
import { ConfigService } from '@ntegral/nestjs-config';

@Module({
  imports: [
    S3Module.forRootAsync({
      imports: [ConfigModule],
      useFactory: async (cfg:ConfigService) => ({
        accessKeyId: cfg.get('ACCESS_KEY_ID'),
        secretAccessKey: 'AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY'
      }),
      inject: [ConfigService],
    })
  ]
})

export class AppModule {}

You can then inject the S3 client into any of your injectables by using a custom decorator

import { Injectable } from '@nestjs/common';
import { InjectS3 } from '@ntegral/nestjs-s3';
import * as S3 from 'aws-sdk/clients/s3';

@Injectable()
export class AppService {
  public constructor(@InjectS3() private readonly client: S3) { }

  upload(pdf) {
        const params = {
        ACL: 'public-read',
        Body: pdf,
        Bucket: process.env.BUCKET,
        Key: uuidv4(),
        ContentEncoding: 'base64',
        ContentType: `application/pdf`
    };
    try {
        const { Location, Key } = await this.client.upload(params).promise();
        return Location;
    } catch (error) {
        console.log('ERROR S3 FILE UPLOAD => ', error);
    }
  }
}
