Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Mesh Gradient

The MeshGradient component is designed to render a Apple-like mesh gradient for React apps. It offers flexible customization options through various props.

Installation

npm install @mikhailmogilnikov/mesh-gradient

Usage

<MeshGradient color='peach' />

Props

ref (optional)

  • Type: Ref<HTMLCanvasElement> | null
  • Description: A reference to the <canvas> element used for rendering the gradient.

colors (optional)

  • Type: GradientPalette
  • Description: An object containing four colors for the gradient. If not specified, the color palette defined by the color prop is used.

color (optional)

  • Type: GradientColors
  • Description: The name of a predefined color palette. Available values: 'green', 'peach', 'sky', 'purple', 'yellow', 'lime'. Default: 'green'.

darken (optional)

  • Type: boolean
  • Description: If true, the gradient will be darkened.

pause (optional)

  • Type: boolean
  • Description: If true, the gradient animation will be paused.

opacity (optional)

  • Type: number
  • Description: The opacity level of the gradient. Default: 1.

animationDuration (optional)

  • Type: number
  • Description: The duration of the opacity transition animation in milliseconds. Default: 150.

Other Props

  • Type: ComponentPropsWithoutRef<'canvas'>
  • Description: Any other props that can be passed to a <canvas> element.

GradientPalette

  • Type: { color1: string; color2: string; color3: string; color4: string }
  • Description: An object defining four colors used in the gradient.

Example

<MeshGradient
  color='sky'
  darken={true}
  pause={false}
  opacity={0.8}
  animationDuration={300}
/>

This example creates a gradient with the sky color palette, darkened, with continuous animation and an opacity of 0.8. The opacity transition animation lasts 300 milliseconds.

Example with colors

const colors: GradientPalette = {
  color1: '#FF5733',
  color2: '#33FF57',
  color3: '#3357FF',
  color4: '#F3FF33'
}

<MeshGradient
  colors={colors}
  animationDuration={200}
/>

This example uses a custom color palette defined by the colors prop, with no darkening, continuous animation, full opacity, and an opacity transition animation lasting 200 milliseconds.
