Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

redux-account-middleware

This library helps with the helps with the management of authentication account lifecycle

https://www.npmjs.com/package/@mcf/redux-account-middleware

Installation

npm i @mcf/redux-account-middleware --save

or

yarn add @mcf/redux-account-middleware

Usage

To run the middleware, we'll have to connect it to the Redux Store.

main.js

import {createStore, applyMiddleware, combineReducers} from 'redux'
import {
  accountReducer,
  createAccountMiddleware,
} from './middleware/account';

// create the account middleware
const accountMiddleware = createAccountMiddleware({
  fetchAccountRequest: fetch('getAccountRequest'),
  logoutRequest: fetch('logoutRequest'),
  refreshTokenRequest: fetch('refreshTokenRequest'),
});

import reducer from './reducers'

const sagaMiddleware = createSagaMiddleware()
// mount it on the Store
const store = createStore(
  // include the account reducer into the main reducer
  combineReducers({
    account: accountReducer,
    ...reducer,
  }),
  applyMiddleware(accountMiddleware)
)

// render the application

Refresh token

This redux middleware will try to refresh the token by calling refresh token api if there is any dispatched action to the redux (given that user is logged in and token expiring within refreshIntervalMinutes)

there are exceptions where the middleware is in the middle of requesting new token and getting account info, or user is logging out
which represented by status below

  • REFRESH_REQUESTED: When refresh is already requested and in progress. This is to prevent duplicates refresh request.
  • REFRESH_RECEIVED: This is the intermediate state where account api will be called in next action. This is to prevent duplicates refresh request.
  • ACCOUNT_REQUESTED: This is the intermediate state to get the latest token expiry from account api. This is to prevent duplicates refresh request.
  • LOGOUT_REQUESTED: When there is a logout request on-going, We should stop refreshing the token. This is so that the user session will not be re-populated with the fresh token and log the user back in

so when the state is either any one mentioned above, refresh token api will not be called
