Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

ecies-25519 npm version

Isomorphic Cryptography Library for X25519 ECIES

Description

This library supports ECIES encryption using Curve25519 Diffie–Hellman key exchange (aka X25519).

AES, HMAC and SHA methods are supported through native NodeJS and Browser APIs when available and fallbacks to vanilla javascript are already provided.

Usage

ECIES

import * as ecies25519 from "ecies-25519";
import * as encoding from "@walletconnect/encoding";

const keyPair = ecies25519.generateKeyPair();

const str = "test message to encrypt";
const msg = encoding.utf8ToArray(str);

const encrypted = await ecies25519.encrypt(msg, keyPairB.publicKey);

const decrypted = await ecies25519.decrypt(encrypted, keyPairB.privateKey);

// decrypted === msg

ECDH

import * as ecies25519 from "ecies-25519";

const keyPairA = ecies25519.generateKeyPair();
const keyPairB = ecies25519.generateKeyPair();

const sharedKey1 = await ecies25519.derive(
  keyPairA.privateKey,
  keyPairB.publicKey
);

const sharedKey2 = await ecies25519.derive(
  keyPairB.privateKey,
  keyPairA.publicKey
);

// sharedKey1 === sharedKey2

RandomBytes

import * as ecies25519 from "ecies-25519";

const length = 32;
const key = ecies25519.randomBytes(length);

// key.length === length

AES

import * as ecies25519 from "ecies-25519";
import * as encoding from "@walletconnect/encoding";

const key = ecies25519.randomBytes(32);
const iv = ecies25519.randomBytes(16);

const str = "test message to encrypt";
const msg = encoding.utf8ToArray(str);

const ciphertext = await ecies25519.aesCbcEncrypt(iv, key, msg);

const decrypted = await ecies25519.aesCbcDecrypt(iv, key, ciphertext);

// decrypted === str

HMAC

import * as ecies25519 from "ecies-25519";
import * as encoding from "@walletconnect/encoding";

const key = ecies25519.randomBytes(32);
const iv = ecies25519.randomBytes(16);

const macKey = encoding.concatArrays(iv, key);
const dataToMac = encoding.concatArrays(iv, key, msg);

const mac = await ecies25519.hmacSha256Sign(macKey, dataToMac);

const result = await ecies25519.hmacSha256Verify(macKey, dataToMac, mac);

// result will return true if match

SHA2

import * as ecies25519 from "ecies-25519";
import * as encoding from "@walletconnect/encoding";

// SHA256
const str = "test message to hash";
const msg = encoding.utf8ToArray(str);
const hash = await ecies25519.sha256(str);

// SHA512
const str = "test message to hash";
const msg = encoding.utf8ToArray(str);
const hash = await ecies25519.sha512(str);

React-Native Support

This library is intended for use in a Browser or NodeJS environment, however it is possible to use in a React-Native environment if NodeJS modules are polyfilled with react-native-crypto, read more here.
