Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

react-component-chunk

Library for making dynamic imports easy, with added support to make dynamically loaded Redux Reducers and Redux-Saga Sagas easy.

Installation

NPM:

npm i --save @kobalt/react-component-chunk

Yarn:

yarn add @kobalt/react-component-chunk

Usage

Simply import Chunkloader from @kobalt/react-component-chunk and pass it a component to load

import Chunkloader from '@kobalt/react-component-chunk';

const Component = Chunkloader({
    loadable: () => import('./components/ComponentIWantInAChunk'),
});

const App = () => (
    <SplittedComponent
        loader={ <Spinner /> }
    />
);

The component passed as loader will receive a loading and error prop, once the chunk is loaded the requested component will be rendered.

See Examples for information on how to load multiple components, reducers and sagas.

Usage with Redux and Redux-Saga

You may want to include some specific reducers and/or sagas in your import, react-component-chunk can help you inject these. (Note: Redux-Saga is only required if you plan to inject sagas)

For this to work you need to have applied the injectableReducers createStore enhancer

// storeInitializer.js
import { createStore, compose } from 'redux';
import injector from '@kobalt/react-component-chunk/redux';

const store = createStore(
    // Your reducers should _NOT_ be combined but a plain object. injectableReducers will do this for you.
    reducers,
    compose(
        // ...your other enhancers
        injector(),
    ),
);

To do this you need to wrap the component you are importing with the Injector-HOC

// components/ComponentIWantInAChunk.js
import { Injector } from '@kobalt/react-component-chunk'
import myReducer from '../reducers/myReducer';
import mySaga from '../sagas/mySaga';

const ComponentIWantInAChunk = () => (
    <p>You want me in a chunk!</p>
);

export default Injector({
    reducers: {
        myReducer,
    },
    sagas: [
        mySaga,
    ],
})(ComponentIWantInAChunk);

Examples

Loading a single component

import Chunkloader from '@kobalt/react-component-chunk';
import Spinner from './components/Spinner';

const SplittedComponent = Chunkloader({
    loadable: () => import('./components/ComponentIWantInAChunk'),
});

const App = () => (
    <SplittedComponent
        loader={ <Spinner /> }
    />
);

Loading multiple components

import Chunkloader from '@kobalt/react-component-chunk';
import Spinner from './components/Spinner';

const SplittedComponents = Chunkloader({
    loadable: [
        () => import('./components/ComponentIWantInAChunk'),
        () => import('./components/ComponentIAlsoWantInAChunk'),
    ],
});

const App = () => (
    <SplittedComponents
        loader={ <Spinner /> }
    >
        { (ComponentIWantInAChunk, ComponentIAlsoWantInAChunk) => (
            <div>
                <ComponentIWantInAChunk />
                <ComponentIAlsoWantInAChunk />
            </div>
        ) }
    </SplittedComponents>
);
