Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

svelte-router

This is a very simple router for single page applications written in Svelte.

Install

npm install @joxtacy/svelte-router

Usage

Below is a short example on how to use the router.

<script>
import { Link, Route, Router } from "@joxtacy/svelte-router";
</script>

<Router>
    <Link to={"/"}>
        <h2>Home</h2>
    </Link>
    <Link to={"/foo"}>
        <h2>foo</h2>
    </Link>
    <Route exact path={"/"}>
        <h2>This is home</h2>
    </Route>
    <Route path={"/foo"}>
        <h2>Bar</h2>
    </Route>
</Router>

API

Router

This component provides context based routing for the Link and Route component and must be used to wrap those components. It does not take any properties.

Route

This component is used to render a component or some markup when its path matches the url. It takes a prop called path which is the path that when matched the Route will render.

| Prop | Required | Default | Description | | --------- |:--------:|:-----------:| -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | path | no | "/" | The path relative to the origin that the Route component will listen to. | | exact | no | false | True if it should match on the exact path only. | | component | no | undefined | The component to be rendered. |

Examples

With general markup:

<Route path={"/some-path"}>
    <!-- Markup goes here -->
</Route>

With a Svelte component:

<script>
import SvelteComponent from "./svelte-component.svelte";
</script>

<Route path={"/some-path"} component={SvelteComponent}/>

Link

This component is used to change the url. It takes one prop called to and is a relative path to your window.location.origin.

| Prop | Required | Default | Description | | --------- |:--------:|:-----------:| --------------------------------------------- | | to | no | "/" | The path relative to window.location.origin |

Example

<Link to={"/some-path"}>
    <!-- Markup goes here -->
</Link>

Know limitations

  • You need to specify the Route components with the most specific path on top, like in the example below. Otherwise the top most one would be rendered on all sub paths as well.

Good example ✅

The most specific path is on top and will not be rendered on /foo.

<script>
import { Link, Route, Router } from "@joxtacy/svelte-router";
</script>

<Router>
    <Link to={"/"}>
        <h2>Home</h2>
    </Link>
    <Link to={"/foo"}>
        <h2>foo</h2>
    </Link>
    <Link to={"/foo/bar"}>
        <h2>foobar</h2>
    </Link>
    <Route exact path={"/"}>
        <h2>This is home</h2>
    </Route>
    <Route path={"/foo/bar"}>
        <h2>Foobar</h2>
    </Route>
    <Route path={"/foo"}>
        <h2>Foo</h2>
    </Route>
</Router>

Bad example ❌

Here the /foo path would also be rendered when the url is /foo/bar.

<script>
import { Link, Route, Router } from "@joxtacy/svelte-router";
</script>

<Router>
    <Link to={"/"}>
        <h2>Home</h2>
    </Link>
    <Link to={"/foo"}>
        <h2>foo</h2>
    </Link>
    <Link to={"/foo/bar"}>
        <h2>foobar</h2>
    </Link>
    <Route exact path={"/"}>
        <h2>This is home</h2>
    </Route>
    <Route path={"/foo"}>
        <h2>Foo</h2>
    </Route>
    <Route path={"/foo/bar"}>
        <h2>Foobar</h2>
    </Route>
</Router>
  • It does not handle variables in the path.

  • You can only have one Router in your app.
