Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

vuetify-server-table

This is an extension of the great vuetify datatable. It allows you to control server side pagination really easily.

Demo

Edit Vuetify Playground (forked)

Or just go to https://y8omg.csb.app/ (not sure if this works, try the CodeSandbox button instead if it does not)

Installation

yarn add @hammerbot/v-server-table

Then, use it in a Vue component:

<template>
    <v-server-table
      :fetch-fn="fetchFn"
      :headers="headers"
    />
</template>

<script>
import { VServerTable } from '@hammerbot/v-server-table'
export default {
  components: {
    VServerTable
  },
  data () {
    return {
      headers: [
        {
          value: 'id',
          text: 'ID'
        },
        {
          value: 'title',
          text: 'Title'
        }
      ]
    }
  },
  methods: {
    async fetchFn ({ size, page, search }) {
      // Insert your server side logic here using size, page and search parameters
      const { data } = await this.$api.get('/articles', {
        params: {
          size,
          page,
          search
        }
      })

      // Return an object following this structure:
      // -> hits: Contains the items of the current page
      // -> total: Contains the number of total items you are iterating over
      // -> page: The current page
      // -> size: The size fetched.
      return {
        hits: data.hits,
        total: data.total,
        page,
        size
      }
    }
  }
}
</script>

Configuration

This component wraps the original v-data-table component. Check out its official documentation to find the options you are looking for.

Pagination Options

The only added prop allows you to control more easily the pagination options:

<template>
    <v-server-table
      :fetch-fn="fetchFn"
      :headers="headers"
      :pagination-options="[10, 20, 50, 200]"
    />
</template>

Defaults to [25, 50, 100, 200, 500]

Behaviour

The component uses lodash debounce function to trigger server side fetching only once in 500ms. The component takes care of the orchestration of the requests. You don't have to wait for a fetch to finish in order to continue navigating between pages.

Changelog

  • BREAKING CHANGE: You can now import two components from this package: VServerTable and VServerIterator
