Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Help guide the development of the @globus/sdk by reporting issues or suggesting features!

npm Codecov

The Globus SDK for JavaScript provides first class TypeScript support and makes it easy to call Globus services using idiomatic JavaScript APIs to build Node.js and web applications.

Installation

If you are not using Typescript, you can install the SDK with the following command:

npm install @globus/sdk

Typescript

@globus/sdk is written in Typescript and includes type definitions for its internal types, Globus platform types (i.e., API responses) are provided by the @globus/types package and must be installed separately.

npm install @globus/sdk @globus/types

Supported Platforms

Node.js

We aim to support all Active LTS Node.js releases. We intend to support all Maintenance LTS versions until their official end-of-life.

| Version | | | ---------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Node.js 18 | lts/hydrogen | | Node.js 20 | lts/iron | | Node.js 22 | lts/iron |

Browser Support

Officially, the SDK supports widely adopted evergreen browsers: Edge, Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. Our bundled browser distributions target ECMAScript 2015 (ES6), which has broader browser support but may not be explicitly evaluated.

| Browser | | | --------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Google Chrome | playwright | | Mozilla Firefox | playwright | | Microsoft Edge | playwright | | Apple Safari | playwright |

ESM, CommonJS, and UMD

We distribute our package targeting three different module systems: ESM, CommonJS, and UMD.

ESM

The ESM distribution is the module export of the package.

import { transfer } from '@globus/sdk';
import { GCS } from '@globus/sdk/constants';

CommonJS

The CommonJS distribution is the main export of the package. It is intended for use in Node.js applications and environments that support the require statement.

const { transfer } = require('@globus/sdk');

You can also explicitly use the cjs namespace to import a CommonJS entrypoint.

const transfer = require('@globus/sdk/cjs').transfer;
// or, import { transfer } from '@globus/sdk/cjs';

UMD

The UMD distribution is provided for use in web applications and environments that do not support ESM or CommonJS. Referencing the UMD distribution as a <script> tag will provide a global variable globus that contains all default exports from the package.

<script src="https://unpkg.com/@globus/sdk/dist/umd/globus.production.js"></script>

Currently, the UMD distribution only provides the default entrypoint for the package.
