A Patchwork Darwinge
This explorable illustrates the basics mechanism of evolutionary processes. By variation and selection the fitness of a population increases. In this particular system evolution occurs on a hexagonal lattice, each lattice size can mutate and acquire a new fitness. Neighboring sites can interact and, depending on their fitness difference, one site takes over the other.
The explorable is part of the Complexity Exporables Collection. For more information about the system and its behavior consult the explorable
Installation & Use
Out of the box you can use the explorable in a basic index.html
file like this
<!doctype html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,initial-scale=1">
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@explorables/a_patchwork_darwinge"></script>
</head>
<body class="avenir pa3 pa5-ns tj">
<div id="explorable_container"></div>
</body>
<script type="text/javascript">
a_patchwork_darwinge.load("explorable_container")
</script>
</html>
The header <script>
tag loads the bundle, the <div>
in the document is the container in which the explorable gets anchored when the function a_patchwork_darwinge.load()
gets executed at the bottom. The load
function needs the <div>
container id
as an argument.
