Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

canvas-study-engine

Simple tetris engine for study purposes based on canvas 2D api.
Here you have TetrisEngine and GameCycle classes.

GameCycle

GameCycle class creates and manage cycle of rendering frames via requestAnimationFrame.

Constructor takes 2 argumets :

gameObject - is any object that has render method.

fps (optional) - desired number of frames per second number. That means that real fps won't be more than specified here. Default value is 30.

To start cycle call Start() function of GameCycle, to stop call Stop() function.

Example

let game = {
    render: () => console.log('Render function')
};

let gameCycle = new GameCycle(game).
gameCycle.Start();

TetrisEngine

TetrisEngine class draw tetris field and gives method to manage it.

Constructor creates canvas element and draw tetris field there. It takes 2 args:

parentElement - HTMLElement where tetris field will be drawn.

customConfig (optional) - tetris field configuration.
By default threre is a config object:

const config = {
    mainBorderWidth: 1,
    fieldWidth: 30,
    fieldInterval: 3,
    columnCount: 20,
    rowCount: 25,
    fieldBackgroundColor: "white",
    fieldBorderColor: "gray",
    fieldDefaultContentColor: "gray",
    highlightColor: "red",
    defaultLineWidth: 0.5,
    fullLineWidth: 1,
    defaultUseBorders: true,
    headerHeight: 80,
    headerMargin: 15
}

The most important here is columnCount and rowCount props that configure field size.

Methods and properties of TetrisEngine:

turnOnField(x, y)

x, y - column number and y number of field that will be turn on.

turnOffField(x, y)

x, y - column number and y number of field that will be turn off.

switchField(x, y)

Change current state of field to opposite: if field was on then it will be turned off and vice versa. x, y - column number and y number of field that will be switched.

setHeaderText(text)

There is a place at the top of tetris field where some text can be types. Using this method you can type text there.

highlightField(x, y)

The filed can be highlited(the border is thicker) without turning on. x, y - column number and y number of field that will be highlited.

removeHighlight(x, y)

x, y - column number and y number of field that will be unhighlited.

keyboardHandler

You can assign to this property function that calls when keyboard event triggers. This function calls with 2 arg keyCode and key
