Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

eslint-config-digitickets

This is a standard code style for all DigiTickets Javascript, based on eslint-config-airbnb-base with some tweaks to make things more to our liking.

This is designed to be used with ES6 code. For app everything is run through Webpack so there's no concern about browser support. For epos Webpack does not parse the code (yet) and the ES6 runs natively in the browser so there are some rules to cater for that.

Install

npm

npm install @digitickets/eslint-config-digitickets --save-dev

yarn

yarn add --dev @digitickets/eslint-config-digitickets

Usage

Simply extend the config in your .eslintrc or .eslintrc.js.

Example .eslintrc:

{
    "root": true,
    "extends": [
        "@digitickets/eslint-config-digitickets",
    ]
}

Webpack

If you are using Webpack, install:

npm install eslint-import-resolver-webpack --save-dev

Add add this to your eslint config:

"settings": {
    // Use aliases from Webpack config.
    "import/resolver": {
        // "node" is here to fix a problem with built-in packages being marked as unresolved
        // https://github.com/benmosher/eslint-plugin-import/issues/1396#issuecomment-511007063
        "node": {},
        "webpack": {
            "config": "./webpack.config.js"
        }
    }
},

Vue

The vue.js file contains extra rules to use with a Vue project. Add it to your extends list in addition to the base like this:

{
    "extends": [
        "@digitickets/eslint-config-digitickets",
        "@digitickets/eslint-config-digitickets/vue"
    ]
}

You'll also need to install these:

npm install eslint-plugin-vue@latest --save-dev

Vue 3

The vue3.js file contains extra rules to use with a Vue 3 project. Add it to your extends list in addition to the base like this:

{
    "extends": [
        "@digitickets/eslint-config-digitickets",
        "@digitickets/eslint-config-digitickets/vue3"
    ]
}

You'll also need to install these plugins:

npm install eslint-plugin-vue@latest --save-dev

Typescript

If you are using Typescript extend this instead of the base:

{
    "extends": [
        "@digitickets/eslint-config-digitickets/typescript",
    ]
}

You'll also need to install these plugins:

npm install --save-dev @typescript-eslint/[email protected] @typescript-eslint/[email protected]
