Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

eslint-config-krauter – TypeScript Code ESLint Config

Hey, what's up, tech enthusiasts? Welcome to the eslint-config-krauter! 🚀

We've got something awesome for all you TypeScript aficionados out there. This isn't just any old code formatting setup – we're talking top-tier, pixel-perfect, A-grade TypeScript awesomeness. At least, that is the goal. Drop an issue if you have suggestions to raise the bar.

Shared Code Linting: Why It Matters

Picture this: you're working on a project with a dream team of developers. Each developer has their unique coding style, and while diversity is great, a lack of consistent code formatting can turn your masterpiece into a hotbed of confusion. Enter shared code linting configuration.

A shared code linting configuration like ours is the secret sauce that keeps your codebase cohesive and your team in sync. It's not just about aesthetics; it's about making sure your code is readable, maintainable, and devoid of those pesky bugs that creep in due to inconsistent practices.

With a shared linting setup, you're creating a universal language that everyone on your team can understand. That means fewer head-scratching moments, faster onboarding for new team members, and the ability to spot issues before they become problems.

Quick Start

So, you're ready to dive in? Let's roll!

  1. First things first, grab this package using your favorite package manager:

    npm install @your-org/eslint-config-typescript --save-dev
    # or
    yarn add @your-org/eslint-config-typescript --dev
  2. Next up, you'll want to create an .eslintrc.js file right at the root of your project:

    module.exports = {
      extends: '@your-org/eslint-config-typescript',
      // Feel free to add any extra project-specific rules or configurations here
    };
  3. Bam! That's it! Your code is now rockin' those shared TypeScript code formatting rules.

Call the Shots

Customization is key, right? Feel free to twist those rules to your liking. Just tweak the .eslintrc.js file you made earlier and show those rules who's boss.

Have an idea to improve this package? Leave an issue!

Add package.json Scripts

Want some extra magic? Add these scripts to your package.json:

{
  "scripts": {
    "lint": "eslint .",
    "lint:fix": "eslint . --fix"
  }
}

Now, you're the captain of your ship. Run npm run lint to check your code for issues and npm run lint:fix to zap away some of those nasties.

TypeScript Excellence Unleashed

At the heart of it all, we live by these tenets:

  1. Clarity First: Keep your code clean, concise, and crystal clear for ultimate maintainability.
  2. Consistency is King: Stick to those coding patterns like glue and make collaboration a breeze.
  3. TypeSafe 4 Life: TypeScript's type system is your best friend; embrace it, and squash bugs before they hatch.
  4. Readability Rules: Keep your variable names meaningful, your functions well-named, and your comments on point.
  5. Stay Curious: Keep learning those TypeScript tricks. Trust us, there's always more to uncover.
  6. Collaborate Like a Pro: Share the knowledge, give constructive feedback, and keep the open-source spirit alive.
