Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

+newArchEnabled=true

on ios

You will only need to reinstall your pods by running pod install with the right flag:

# Run pod install with the flag:
RCT_NEW_ARCH_ENABLED=1 bundle exec pod install

Usage

to use this library, you need to configure a library to ask permission to use the camera. take a look at @brainylab/react-native-permissions -> using React Native | New Architecture and TurboModule

import React, {useRef, useState} from 'react';
import {Text, SafeAreaView, TouchableOpacity, Modal, View} from 'react-native';

import {useCameraPermission} from '@brainylab/react-native-permissions';
import {CameraScanner} from '@brainylab/react-native-scanner';

export default function App() {
  const [open, setOpen] = useState(false);
  const [code, setCode] = useState<string | null>(null);
  const {status, requestPermission} = useCameraPermission();

  const count = useRef(0);

  if (code) {
    return (
      <Text style={{fontSize: 30, color: 'red'}}>Code Scanned is: {code}</Text>
    );
  }

  if (status === 'authorized') {
    return (
      <SafeAreaView style={{flex: 1}}>
        <Modal animationType="none" transparent={true} visible={open}>
          <CameraScanner
            watcher={false}
            formats={['code-128', 'code-39', 'code-93', 'ean-13', 'ean-8']}

              }
              count.current++;

API

| APIs | Value | iOS | Android | | -------------- | ------------- | -------------- | --------------- | | formats | add specific formats, required | ❌ | ✅ | | onlyCenter | activates only center scanner, default: false | ❌ | ✅ | | watcher | activates continuous reading, default: true | ❌ | ✅ | | onCodeScanned | Receives the value of the QR/BarCode | ✅ | ✅ |

Formats

Add specific formats to an array list, reducing the amount of format will help barcode reading performance, compatible formats: code-128 | code-39 | code-93 | codabar | ean-13 | ean-8 | itf | upc-e | qr-code | pdf-417 | aztec | data-matrix

Only Center Mode

If you activate this mode, the scanner reading will be limited to the center of the camera. default: true

Watcher Mode

Observer mode was added with a very specific function, when the mode is true, it continuously reads to find a barcode, when it is false, it reads once and pauses the reading while the object is in front from the camera, when the object leaves, it releases the reading again. To carry out this method, Google's ML Kit was used.

Examples

The source code for the example (showcase) app is under the Example/ directory. If you want to play with the API but don't feel like trying it on a real app, you can run the example project.
