Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

m3u8-to-mp4 - Convert m3u8 to mp4

This module is forked from m3u8-to-mp4 created by furkaninanc.

it's intended to helps you convert an M3U8 file to an MP4 file easily using ffmpeg/node.js

This Fork Supports passing headers for remote m3u8 file fetching

Installation

This module can be installed via npm. You will also need to install ffmpeg for this module to work:

$ sudo apt install ffmpeg
$ npm install --save m3u8-to-mp4

Windows users, you can download ffmpeg from here

Mac users, you can download ffmpeg from here

Usage

var m3u8ToMp4 = require("m3u8-to-mp4");
var converter = new m3u8ToMp4();

Functions

converter.setHeaders(headers) - optional

  • headers: An object containing the headers to be used in the request to the M3U8 file.

converter.setInputFile(filename)

  • filename: M3U8 file path. You can use remote URL

converter.setOutputFile(filename)

  • filename: Output file path. Has to be local :)

converter.start()

var m3u8ToMp4 = require("m3u8-to-mp4");
var converter = new m3u8ToMp4();

(async function() {
  await converter
    .setInputFile("https://<URL_OF_THE_WEBSITE>/<PATH_TO_THE_M3U8_FILE>")
    .setOutputFile("dummy.mp4")
    .start();

  console.log("File converted");
})();

if you want to use headers, you can use setHeaders function.

var m3u8ToMp4 = require("m3u8-to-mp4");
var converter = new m3u8ToMp4();
 (async function() {
  await converter
    .setInputFile("https://<URL_OF_THE_WEBSITE>/<PATH_TO_THE_M3U8_FILE>")
    .setOutputFile("dummy.mp4")
    .setHeaders({
      "Authorization": "Bearer XXXXXX",
      "User-Agent": "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/75.0.3770.142 Safari/537.36",
})
    .start();

  console.log("File converted");

 )()

or if you want to use it with .then() instead of async/await:

var m3u8ToMp4 = require("m3u8-to-mp4");
var converter = new m3u8ToMp4();

converter
  .setInputFile("https://<URL_OF_THE_WEBSITE>/<PATH_TO_THE_M3U8_FILE>")
  .setOutputFile("dummy.mp4")
  .start()
  .then(() => {
    console.log("File converted");
  });
